I have created this collection and technique of drawings especially for the Fairmont Kea Lani. Each original piece is drawn freehand from my imagination using archival black India Ink and color-pigmented pencils. The ink is applied to Clayboard, a hard panel prepared with absorbent kaolin clay. It is a super-smooth and wonderfully unforgiving surface. The finished drawings are varnished with an thick application of crystal-clear acrylic medium. The acrylic seals the clay surface with a delicately textured finish which is non-porous and non-yellowing. This mixed-media approach to my drawing technique avoids the shipping weight, glare and breakage of glass. Each original drawing is framed in a lightweight, chic, modern frame made from 80% recycled materials, primarily from the electronics and food-packaging industries. For this collection, I aim to create whimsical, sexy, fun artwork that shares a healthy dose of aloha with the restof the world. You will find that the sophisticated designs and detailed line-work fit into any well-decorated space. |
